A Daily Sacred Mantra

The Gayatri Mantra is said to be the most sacred of all mantras.

It calls in a protection resonance around you, a sacred healing.

The mantra says:

We contemplate the glory of Light illuminating the three worlds: gross, subtle, and causal.

I am that vivifying power, love, radiant illumination, and divine grace of universal intelligence.

We pray for the divine light to illumine our minds.

The feeling from it is so amazing; I say this mantra many times a day in reverence of this amazing journey.

Outside My Window

More Healing Goodness

Another staple ingredient I use in all my herbal salves along with Calendula is Comfrey.

The leaves are used in salve making and they have amazing healing benefits. Staph infections for instance, which are caused by Staphylococcal bacteria, are quickly killed by simply applying Comfrey salve to the infected area. Open wounds heal extremely fast - usually within 24 hours or less- and usually leave no scars behind as well. Broken bones are known to heal faster when Comfrey is applied to the outside of the affected area, and torn ligaments and tendons also heal quite quickly when a Comfrey salve is applied externally. Not only does Comfrey start the healing process quite fast, it also helps relieve pain as soon as it comes in contact with the injured area. It's also excellent for bringing down swelling and reducing inflammation.

Comfrey also heals hard-to-heal wounds such as bites from brown recluse spiders, diabetic ulcers, and bedsores.

Plants have awesome powers; they never cease to amaze me.

The Hooded Sage

Who Says Girls Can't Smoke Pipes?

I get a lot of people that ask me if I actually smoke the Herbal Smoking Blends I make.

I sure do!

Here is a picture of my wooden Wizard Pipe. It makes smoking out of a pipe turn into a magical ceremony.

I started making Herbal Smoking Blends as an alternative to smoking Tobacco, which is super expensive and I may have heard somewhere that Tobacco is bad for your health. :)

Tonight's chosen blend: Happy Day

On moonlit nights, I like to take my pipe down to the river, sit in nature, and smoke like a Hobbit.

Calendula to the Rescue

My life partner Matthew came home late last night from working on a project and fell asleep in front of the space heater. He woke up with a pretty nasty burn on his knee.

I sent him off to school today with a jar of cool salve, knowing it contains herbs and essential oils that will soothe his burn and heal it super quick.

One of my favorite ingredients that I use in all of my salves is Calendula. Calendula is a popular salve and cream ingredient because it decreases the inflammation of sprains, stings, varicose veins and other swellings. It soothes burns, sunburn, rashes, and skin irritations, cures acne, and stops bleeding.

This amazing flower is also anti-fungal, astringent, and anti-viral. Amazing, right?

While other prescription medicated ointments cause contact dermatitis and other crazy side effects, herbal salves do not have any side effects at all. Just healing goodness.

The Earth is so good to us.

Energize

If you're wondering, "What the heck is that thing?"
It's my Ultrasonic Diffuser.

Ultrasonic Diffusers break up Essential Oils into tiny particles and mist them all around the room, so you can get aromatherapy benefits to the max. This one is also a humidifier and lights up slowly through the entire rainbow spectrum, allowing for awesome color therapy as well.

(I tried to get a good picture of the mist coming from the top, but unfortunately, none of the pictures I took do it justice.)

Essential Oils are very powerful healers, and I use them in my products instead of ever using fragrance oils, which are not natural.

Today, I needed a little energizing while packing orders, so I mixed Peppermint Essential Oil with Orange Essential Oil.

Meet Merlin,

I adopted Merlin from a shelter as a tiny kitten 7 years ago.

He is very much a part of the Folkspirit store, helping to uplift my spirit every single day.

Juice Fast

Today I am starting a juice fast.

Fasting is a great way to cleanse the body of built-up toxins and other junk that may be lingering in the system.

Here are some pictures of me using "The Greens" mix from my shop.

This mix includes organic Wheat Grass powder, organic Acerola Cherry powder, and organic Kelp powder. Yum!

Makin' Salve

Last night I made two new salves,

Pau D'arco Salve and Ultimate Salve.

Salves are made by steeping healing herbs in olive oil.

Some people set them in jars in to steep in the sun for weeks on end, but I use James Green's method of evenly heating them in the oven with the door slightly ajar for 5-6 hours.

I like this method better because it ensures zero mold growth.

(I hate to break it to you, but if you have ever purchased a "cold infused" salve that sat on someone's window sill for 6-8 weeks, that salve had mold in it. Yuck.)

Beeswax and essential oils are then added to make the salve thicken. It is a magical process. Making salve is one of my absolute favorite things to do.
